Primeiro papel natural produzido na Amazônia é mostrado em Paris:

Paris, 12 out (EFE) - O primeiro papel 100% natural produzido na Amazônia, elaborado por uma cooperativa da cidade de Belém, foi apresentado hoje na Embaixada do Brasil na França, segundo informou a legação diplomática.

Mais de 40 famílias da Amazônia contribuíram para a elaboração do "Amazon paper", um projeto apoiado pelo Banco Mundial e a Comissão Européia, entre outros organismos.

Para elaborar o produto, são empregadas fibras provenientes de comunidades rurais do Pará, que recebem assistência técnica do Sistema Pobreza e Meio Ambiente na Amazônia (Poema).

O site do "Amazon Paper" indica que o produto "não concorre no mercado do papel tradicional nem se enquadra na categoria dos reciclados, por ser feito artesanalmente, folha a folha", por isso é classificado como "art paper" e tem produção limitada, sendo usado principalmente para produtos de luxo."

Paris, Out 12th (EFE) - first 100% natural paper produced in the Amazon, elaborated by a cooperative of the city of Belém, was presented today in the Brazilian Embassy in France, as informed by the diplomatic legation.

More than 40 Amazon families had contributed for the elaboration of the "Amazon to paper", a project supported by the World Bank and the European Commission, among other organizations.

To elaborate the product, staple fibres proceeding from agricultural communities of Pará are used, that receive technical assistance from the Poverty and Environment System in the Amazon ("Poema").

The "Amazon Paper" website indicates that the product “does not concur in the market of the traditional paper nor in the category of the recycled ones, for being made artisan, leaf by leaf”, therefore it is classified as "art paper" and has limited production, being used mainly for luxury products."
