Há poucos dias atrás um matemático russo resolveu um dos sete “problemas do milênio” e recebeu um dos maiores prêmios mundiais por essa façanha. Ele levou cerca de 10 anos para resolver o problema que não tinha solução há 100 anos. O detalhe é que ele recusou o prêmio de US$ 1 milhão. Um detalhe ainda maior é que ele está desempregado. Ele diz: “Eu não acho que eu seja de interesse público. Eu não falo isso por causa da minha privacidade, não tenho nada a esconder. Só acho que o público não deve se interessar por mim. Jornais deveriam ter mais discernimento sobre o que publicar, deveriam ter mais requinte. Até onde eu sei, não ofereço nada que acrescente à vida dos leitores.” “Publiquei meus achados. É isto que ofereço ao público.”

Mas o que há em comum entre o matemático russo e a Economia Ecológica? Simples. O matemático russo, apesar de um gênio, recusou seu prêmio e ainda deixou seu recado, de que há coisas muito mais importantes a se preocupar do que a solução de um problema matemático.

E você sabe o que é a Economia Ecológica? Em breves palavras, ela é uma área das Ciências Econômicas que vem crescendo e se disseminando entre os profissionais da área. Ela surgiu no momento em que se detectou que o uso sustentável dos recursos naturais era necessário para o crescimento sustentável da economia mundial, isto ocorreu no final dos anos 60 e anos 70. A partir daí começou-se a identificar que o desenvolvimento econômico e a preservação ambiental são interdependentes para um efetivo desenvolvimento. Daí surge o Desenvolvimento Sustentável, segundo o qual o Desenvolvimento deve ser entendido pela eficiência econômica, equilíbrio ambiental e também pela equidade social.

Daí pode-se tirar diversas conclusões, das quais não citarei minha posição como futuro economista para não tornar muito teórica esta mensagem, mas sim como cidadão do mundo.

Quero, com esta mensagem, deixar clara a importância de preocupar-nos com a questão ambiental, com as futuras gerações, com o futuro da humanidade, pois creio que o mundo está tornando-se um lugar insustentável para viver, e o atual sistema econômico está nos levando ao final dos tempos de forma muito rápida, mais rápida do que aparenta. Pode parecer exagero, mas a população mundial continua crescendo, as terras cultiváveis estão tornando-se cada vez mais escassas, a natureza já está se revelando contra o homem como podemos ver pelos furações, ciclones e outros, já não há mais espaço para tanto lixo, a seca atinge lugares que jamais tiveram este problema, e o homem está fazendo muito pouco para reverter este cenário.

Solução? Mudar de postura, exercer cidadania, exigir dos governantes o uso sustentável dos recursos, participar ativamente na sociedade e nas ONGs, apoiar e incentivar a causa. É possível crescer economicamente cuidando melhor dos recursos naturais e seu uso sustentável? Claro que sim, como vemos na Finlândia que já utiliza em todos os seus transportes coletivos energia renovável, que não polui, não acaba e seus custos não são muito superiores aos de um ônibus movido a outras energias baratas e poluentes. O custo de poluir e degradar o ambiente não vale à pena.

Existem muitas outras questões como o uso sustentável da água, o não uso de agrotóxicos nos alimentos, o reciclagem, a redução da utilização de embalagens de todos os tipos, os produtos ecologicamente corretos. Tudo isto é possível, é preciso querer, exigir, agir, mostrar-se preocupado com estas questões. Basta ter atitude!

But what is in common between the Russian mathematician and the Ecological Economy? Simple. The Russian mathematician, although a genius, refused his prize and left his message, that there are many other things much more important to worry than the solution of a mathematical problem.

But, do you know what the Ecological Economy is? In brief words, it is an area of the Economic Sciences that is growing and spreading around the professionals of the area. It appeared at the moment when it was detected that the sustainable use of the natural resources was necessary for the sustainable growth of the world-wide economy, this occurred in the end of the years 60 and years 70. From then on it started to identify that the economic development and the environment preservation are interdependent for an effective development. Then appears the Sustainable Development, according to which the Development must be understood by the economic efficiency, environment balance and also for the social equity.

From that we can take off a lot of conclusions, of which I will not cite my position as a future economist so I don’t make this message a very theoretician one, but I will do it as world citizen.

I want, with this message, to clarify the importance to worry about the environment issue, the future generations, the future of the humanity, therefore I believe that the world is becoming an unsustainable place to live, and the current economic system is leading us to the end of the times in a really fast way, faster than it looks like. It seems to be exaggerate, but the world-wide population continues growing, the cultivating lands are becoming scarcer by the time, the nature is already disclosing against the man as we can see with the hurricanes, cyclones and others, there isn’t much space for garbage, good lands start to get dry with the weather problems, and the men are not doing much to revert this scene.

Solution? To change peoples position, to exert citizenship, to demand of the governing the sustainable use of the resources, to participate actively in the society and the NGOs, to support and to stimulate the cause. Is it possible to grow economically, taking a better care of the natural resources and its sustainable use? Yes, sure, as we can see in Finland that already uses renewable energy in all its collective transports, that does not pollute, does not end and its costs are not very superior to the ones of a bus moved with other cheap and pollutant energies. The costs to pollute and degrade the environment are not worth it.

There are many other issues like the sustainable use of the water, the use of chemical products in the agriculture, the recycling, the reduction of the use of packings of all types, the ecologically right products. It is all possible, you just have to want it, to demand, to act, to be worried about these issues. It needs to have the attitude!

Antes de qualquer coisa, achei importante me apresentar para que todos conheçam meu perfil pessoal e profissional e consigam entender melhor as idéias que aqui irei expor.

Meu nome é Germano Heckler, moro em Santa Maria no Rio Grande do Sul desde pequeno, porem nasci em Santiago, também no Rio Grande do Sul. Sou acadêmico de Ciências Econômicas da UFSM, com formação técnica em contabilidade e processamento de dados. Estive nos Estados Unidos através de programa de intercâmbios do AFS Intercultura Brasil durante 11 meses entre os anos de 2000 e 2001. Trabalho com voluntariado desde 1999 onde comecei no AFS, entrando em 2003 para a AIESEC em Santa Maria e para o Escotismo. Saí em 2005 da AIESEC onde fui diretor local de intercâmbios e hoje sou voluntário como escotista apenas. Moro com meus pais e tenho duas irmãs mais novas. Gosto de esportes em geral, com preferência ao ski e ao voleibol. Pretendo em cinco anos estar trabalhando na área do meu curso conhecida como Economia Ecológica, da qual vejo um grande futuro para os economistas e onde pretendo encabeçar meus futuros projetos.

Before anything, I thought it was important to present myself so everyone gets to know my personal and professional profile and obtain a better understanding of the ideas that I will display here.

My name is Germano Heckler, I live in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil since I was a kid, but I was born in Santiago, Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil. I am academic of Economic Science at UFSM, with technical graduation in accounting and data processing. I have been in the United States through the AFS Intercultura Brasil’s exchange program for 11 months between the years of 2000 and 2001. I work with volunteering since 1999 where I started in the AFS, entering in 2003 in AIESEC in Santa Maria and also in boy scouts as a master. I left AIESEC in 2005 where I was the local exchange director, and today I am a volunteer as a boy scout master only. I live with my parents and I have two younger sisters. I like to play most of the sports, with preference to ski and volleyball. In five years I pretend to be working in the area of my course known as Ecological Economy, in which I see a great future for the economists and where I intend to head my future projects.

I hope we can exchange some ideas throughout your readings, not only here in the Blog, but information and ideas from other Blogs, books, newspapers, magazines and other sources from Brazil and the world!

Este Blog tem por finalidade colocar idéias das quais podem modificar a vida das pessoas para melhor, em um pensamento humanista e social, do qual o homem não vive sem a existência de outros homens.

A idéia é muito simples: fazemos todos os dias coisas que não queremos em nossos inconscientes, e deixamos de fazer a diferença onde poderíamos, por fazer aquilo que é certo perante a sociedade e talvez errado aos nossos olhos.

Qualquer um pode mudar o caminho dos homens e das coisas, basta acreditar e tomar a frente, ou seja, tomar a atitude de "Drive the change, live the dream!"

This Blog has a purpose to put ideas that could change people’s life for a better situation, in a humanistic and social way, in which a man do not survive without the existence of other men.

The idea is very simple: everyday we do things that, in our unconscious, we don’t want to. In this way we don’t make the difference in many other things that we could, because we do what is right by the society’s eyes and maybe wrong by our eyes.

Anyone can change the way of men and things, just believe and take the lead, take the attitude of “Drive the change, live the dream!”
