Tenho lido cada vez mais sobre formas de energia alternativa, e achei muito interessante um post de um Blog sobre Meio Ambiente e Sociedade, onde é possível ter uma fácil idéia do quão importante é a busca pelo conhecimento destas novas formas de energia:

ENERGIA ALTERNATIVA:

Proveniente de matérias encontradas em abundância em todo o País, a biomassa é uma fonte limpa de energia, que não polui e não se esgota. Ao contrário, a energia obtida a partir da biomassa reduz a poluição ambiental, pois utiliza lixo orgânico, estrume de gado, restos agrícolas, aparas de madeira ou óleos vegetais. A Agência Internacional de Energia calcula que, dentro de 20 anos, cerca de 30% de toda a energia consumida no mundo será proveniente de biomassa.De maneira geral, a produção de energia a partir de biomassa requer uma área significativamente menor do que aquela exigida para a construção de uma usina hidrelétrica, por exemplo. Além disso, incentiva atividades econômicas locais, como a agroindústria, reduzindo custos, fixando as comunidades em suas áreas de origem e possibilitando o acesso de comunidades isoladas à eletricidade.Várias comunidades na Amazônia já geram energia a partir da queima controlada dos restos de madeira, em suas pequenas serrarias. De cada árvore serrada, quase 50% era perdido em forma de serragem, lascas ou aparas das cascas, antes abandonados ao apodrecimento. Hoje, essas comunidades suprem suas necessidades energéticas com a queima controlada desse material.Por sua vez, a casca de arroz deixou de ser um problema ambiental para a indústria de beneficiamento gaúcha e virou um insumo gerador de energia. O subproduto da queima da casca de arroz pode, ainda, ser recuperado como matéria-prima para as indústrias eletrônicas, de cerâmica e de vidro. Já o bagaço da cana-de-açúcar, considerado um estorvo até há pouco tempo, hoje é queimado de modo controlado, produzindo calor para a destilação do álcool e vapor para a geração de eletricidade.

ALTERNATIVE ENERGY:

Proceeding from substances found in abundance in all the Country, the biomass is a clean source of energy, that has no pollution and is not depleted. In contrast, the energy gotten from the biomass reduces the ambient pollution, therefore it uses organic garbage, cattle excrement, agricultural remaining portions, vegetal shavings wooden or oils. The International Agency of Energy calculates that, in 20 years, about 30% of all the energy consumed in the world will be proceeding from biomass. In a generalized manner, the production of energy from biomass requires a significantly lesser area comparing to the one demanded for the construction of a hidroeletric plant, for example. Moreover, it stimulates local economic activities, as the agroindustry, reducing costs, fixing the communities in its areas of origin and making possible the access of isolated communities to the electricity. Some communities in the Amazon already generate energy from the controlled burning of the remaining wooden portions, in its small would saw. Of each sawed tree, almost 50% were lost in form of 'serragem', chips or shavings of the rinds, before abandoned to the get rotten/old. Today, these communities supply its energy necessities with the controlled burning of this material.
